Bermuda Reinsurers and Florida Insurance Rates

This interesting article in a Bermudian publication called The Bottom Line addresses particular criticism of the Bermuda reinsurance market and its effect on insurance rates in Florida.  The author, Jonathan Kent, deconstructs and rebuts arguments made by a Pulitzer Prize winner's investigative series published in the Sarasota Herald Tribune that made Bermuda and other off-shore reinsurers villans in the difficult and complex Florida insurance market.

It ties in very nicely to the TIPS Disaster Initiative September 14th teleconference discussed in Leo's post below.  You can register for that teleconference here.  The live programs at the TIPS meetings on May 17, 2012 in Charleston, SC and on August 2, 2012 in Chicago will have insurance industry panels that may also address these issues.  Click here for information about the TIPS Disaster Initiative.
